To All Fellow Iowa Optimists,

I am so honored to serve as governor of the great Iowa District for 2012-2013.  We will be “Steppin’ Up” to bring out the best in kids now and for the future.  We will work hard with a passion and enthusiasm that will help the District grow in both clubs and members to be number one in the Great Plains Region.  Our District team will step up to help lead the clubs in their youth and community service projects.  The clubs will grow with a sense of vitality due in part to the leadership of the Lt. Governors as they offer support, training, and open communication.  Sincerity and hard work will yield positive results and help to bring out the best in kids now and for the future.

I want to extend a hardy thanks to all Optimist members and their families for the sacrifices they make in “Steppin’ Up” to grow the District and bring out the best in kids.  A special thanks to Earl Hopkins and his wife, Marge, who will be the District Secretary/ Treasurer and conference assistant.  Having said this, the most important person to help me is my wife, Patty, who has always been there for support through everything.

The great Iowa District will grow not only in numbers but in new friendships developed by involvement in club, zone, and District meetings.  Always remember that “by providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in kids”.
